Vasna Ramasar and Muriel Côte participated in a panel discussion on ecofeminism

Four researchers from the department participated in the “Feminist Festival” in Malmö this weekend. Martina Angela Caretta held a keynote speech titled What do gender and intersectionality have to do with the environment? A feminist talk on climate justice.

In her talk, she provided examples from her own research in East Africa, the USA, and Latin America on how gender and intersectionality are fundamental elements in understanding our relations to the environment. She also gave the audience insights into what climate injustice actually looks like on the ground.

Vasna Ramasar and Muriel Côte took part in a panel discussion titled “Let’s talk about ecofeminism for climate justice”, which was arranged by Degrowth Malmö, Malmö antifascist, and the collective against environmental racism.

For the festival Muriel Côte and Samahir Elmubarak co-produced an exhibition titled “Ecofeminism and climate justice” together with Degrowth Malmö, XR Skåne, and KlimatAktion Malmö.

These contributions draw from the ongoing research and work these scholars are involved in at the department drawing on feminist geography and feminist political ecology. They are all part of a group called Extractivism Research Group
