BIDS - Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program the student must fulfil general entry requirements. In addition, the student must fulfil the specific entry requirements - courses corresponding to the following Swedish Upper Secondary School Programs:
• Civics 1b/1a1+1a2
• English 6/B (advanced)
A good command of English language both spoken and written, equivalent to English6/B (advanced) proficiency in the Swedish secondary system, is required. Equivalence assessments will be made according to national guidelines.
Credentials - diploma and transcripts - should always be official and certified. If they are in a language other than the Nordic languages, English, French or German, authorized translations must be enclosed.
Foreign students are exempted from the general university requirement of commanding the Swedish language.
The applicants estimated capacity to complete the programme is the major overall criterion for selection. Students who fulfil the specific eligibility requirements are selected according to previous study results.
Seats are allocated according to: The general average (GPA) of your higher secondary school leaving certificate: 66 %, The Swedish national university aptitude test: 34%. The University board has decided that applicants with equal merits (in the GPA group) should be separated by the use of a valid result from the Swedish national university aptitude test.

There are two annual application rounds for the Bachelor's programme in Development Studies:
- The international admission (Bachelor's, first admission round) on universityadmissions.se and;
- The national admission round (Bachelor's, second admission round) on antagning.se
Students who are non-EU/EAA citizens and do not already have a residence permit in Sweden or another EU/EAA-country should apply in the international admissions round.
