1. I have a Bachelor’s degree in (fill in the blank). Am I eligible to apply?

As long as you have the prerequisite course work in Human Ecology or a related field, e.g. anthropology, sociology, geography, or environmental studies, you are qualified to apply. We encourage applications from all related disciplines.

We are unable to appraise individual transcripts until the review process. You must evaluate your scholarly and work histories to determine if you have the necessary background to apply.

2. I have a BA, specialization in Sociology and Anthropology, and I have the transcripts, however, we were not required to write a degree essay. Will the official transcripts be enough for the Previous Study requirement?

Yes. No problem, together with either a certificate or your diploma we have all documents needed to assess your previous records.

3. I will complete my Bachelor studies after the application deadline of January 15th but before the programme begins in the autumn. Am I eligible to apply?

You are eligible to apply. However, you need to be aware that timing for the required residence permit may be an issue. Without a degree at the time of application we would be able to give you a conditional acceptance to the program with the requirement that the degree be earned by the time the programme begins.

4. Can you send me an application pack by regular mail?

No, applications are filled out and submitted online at university admissions website.

5. When will I know if I have been accepted?
Applicants will be notified via e-mail during the spring term via universityadmissions.se.

6. Do you offer a January entry?

No.

7. When does the programme start?

The fall term 2023 officially starts around August 28th and ends around January 14th 2024. However, we encourage you to arrive on Arrival day on week before (exact date TBA). Buses will take you from the train station to campus, where you will meet your coordinator and fellow students and recieve a welcome package. The following week is called Introdution Week and offers social activities as well as Swedish courses.

8. Are there any tuition fees?

Yes, starting 2011 non-European students have to pay tuition fees at Higher Education Institutions in Sweden. You can read more about tuition fees at Lund University here lunduniversity.lu.se

9. What are some of the career prospects that emerges from this program?

Offering a rigorous education in the theory, method, and research practice of world-historical environmental change, the programme provides students with the conceptual tools and research experience to pursue careers in academia, non-governmental organisations, environmental policy, journalism, and many other sectors for which a serious command of today’s environmental challenges is relevant. See also the tab to the left “Career relevance and research foundation” for even more information.

10. How can I arrange my residence permit?

You apply for your residence permit as soon as you have received notification of admission via universityadmission.se. The process can take quite some time so it’s important that you start as early as possible. Read more here.

11. How can I find accommodation?

As mentioned on the university central website the housing situation in Lund is tough and the number of rooms available in the fall might not cover the demand that we foresee at this point. It is very important to make this clear so that each student knows that they are responsible for finding their own accommodation.

12. Where can I find the course schedules?

You can find the course schedule either on the course page at Canvas or here.

13. Could you help me print and sign a study certificate?

Read more about study certificates here.

14. I have a problem with my application, what should I do?

Please contact the Lund University Admissions Office as they are the ones initially handling all incoming applications and documents.

15. When can I apply for the programme?

You can apply for the programme in the international application round on universityadmissions.se and antagning.se. The application in the international round is usually open between November and mid-January. The programme always starts in the fall (august-September).
