Congratulations to alumna Holly Jean Buck on receiving the MacArthur Fellowship!

researcher Holly Buck

We are delighted and proud to celebrate Holly Jean Buck, a former student at our department, who has been named a recipient of the United States’ most prestigious honour: MacArthur Fellowship, often referred to as the “Genius Grant.”

Holly graduated from Lund University with a master's in Human Ecology – Culture, Power and Sustainability in 2011. Since then, she has built an impressive career as a researcher and scholar working at the intersection of climate change, energy, technology and society.

The MacArthur Fellowship recognises exceptionally creative individuals whose work has the potential to make a significant contribution to society. Holly’s research and writing explore some of the complex social, political and ethical questions surrounding climate change and the transition to a more sustainable future.

It is always inspiring to see where our alumni go after their time with us — and we are especially proud to see Holly’s work receive this recognition.
