Presentation:
Hi there, I am a researcher at CIRCLE but also affiliated with the Department for Social and Economic Geography @ Lund University. My research covers the spatial aspects of learning processes between actors in innovation systems and clusters. My PhD thesis was called 'Faraway, so Close! The Changing Geographies of Regional Innovation'. I have been a principal researcher in the project ‘Nordic SMEs and Regional Innovation Systems’ (funded by the Nordic Innovation Centre, see also http://www.keg.lu.se/html/fp28.html ) and have published various comparative studies that address the spatial learning dynamics of clusters in different industries and regions. Currently I am involved in the project ‘Global knowledge networks in pharmaceutical and agro-food biotechnology’ funded by the Swedish Research Council.

Forskning:
My research activities are part of CIRCLE Research Area 2, "Studies of regional innovation systems". I am particularly interested in studying the spatial aspects of learning processes between actors in an innovation system (firms, research institutes, universities, the public sector). What determines the relative importance of localized learning processes versus non-localized learning processes? In answering this question, the point of departure is to compare regional innovation systems from a sectorally and territorially contextualized perspective. Thus, comparisons are made between the spatial learning dynamics of clusters in different industries and regions. So far, my research has mainly been concentrated on clusters in the Nordic countries and Canada, encompassing traditional industries such as food as well as science-based industries such as biotechnology.
